Situations such as this are becoming all too familiar among Baptist churches today, not the aspect of having a multiplicity of pastors because Baptist churches have had this for a very long time. Bellevue Baptist church is one example. They are vehemently against Elder rule while they have a multiplicity of pastors ruling the church. The only difference is they refuse to use the word ‘Elder’, but the same thing is being accomplished.
I am astounded that Christians find the sound Biblical teaching of Elders so repugnant. Then again, I am also astounded that Baptist congregations actually allow Deacons or committees to run the church, believing this to be the Biblical pattern.
CBC will most definitely have my prayers.
