The Mississippi Founders Conference was a success! Dr. Nettles did an excellent job on the two messages, and gave us some good solid advice about what we should do next with the Founders Fraternal, in which I hope to share with you when I have more time.
I must give recognition to several people that have worked extremely hard in making sure that we were able to put this together:
First and foremost, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in whom we came together to give thanks and praise, may He be raised high in our preaching and teaching and glorified!
Second, the members of Castlewoods Baptist and Grace Baptist, including Bro. Brian Richardson and Bro. Thomas Winn, who have not only physically supported the MS Founders, but also financially supported us as well; Gary Allen, a deacon’s deacon; Andrew Walling, for the moral support and making my job a lot easier; Josh Dear, for making the initial contact with Dr. Nettles and for having such an excellent booktable from RTS; Sam Hughey, for not only driving all the way down from Memphis but manning the Solid Ground book table; Solid Ground Books, for providing an great source of books for the conference; Dr. Joe Nesom for not only being so supportive, but also playing the piano and organ (respectively) for the conference (if the preaching thing doesn’t work out, please give CBC a call, we could use your organ playing skills
; Mike Corley, I am sorry that you were not able to broadcast all of your program from the conference, please let me know if I can ever be of assistance; and last but not least, my wife for putting up with me during the past couple of months while taking care of our two boys and carrying our third child, behind every good man, there is a great woman, I thank God for you each day.
I was really encouraged by the out of state attendance we had (i.e. Louisiana), but also made me wonder about the central Mississippi area. I am assuming that the strong Louisiana presence is due in part to the long time effect of pastoring in LA that Dr. Joe Nesom and Dr. Fred Malone, both Board of Directors of Founders, has had in that area. One can only wonder what churches such as Castlewoods and Grace may have on the metro area ten or twenty years from now. If anyone would care to comment on that, please do.
We will hopefully have some figures on specifics of how many churches were represented. We do know that about 55 people were in attendance, which is pretty good for a first time conference.
We also will hopefully have CD’s or mp3’s of the conference available soon. Please check back for more information.
Thanks Mingo.
I will add a hearty AMEN to your statements. Tom’s words were personally deeply moving to me and the conference was indeed edifying.
Thanks again for allowing me to be a part of your first conference and I pray there will be many more.

Thanks Sam and Don,
It has been a real encouragement that both of you were able to attend. If you can share any constructive criticism in how to make next year’s better, I am all ears.
